well they have an ad here in Australia where the dad asks the kid to get him a beer, and the kid turns into the dad asking his kid to get him a beer. i think if the child is around it, its more prone to doing it.

Usually winemakers try NOT to add sugar to the grape juice/wine as it ferments because it will change the flavour of the resulting wine. There are many varieties of both red and white wine which are sweet, however.
The fruit does have natural sugars, but some varieties make better sweet wines than others. Look for an icewine or dessert wine for very sweet types.
Also, native North American grapes make very good sweet wines: Concord, Niagara, Catawba…concord is red wine, that’s also what they make Welch’s jelly from, Niagara is a white wine, and Catawba often makes a very nice sweet rose.
When/if you are looking for a sweeter wine, ask about the “residual sugar” A dry wine, one that is not sweet, will have no residual sugar. A sweet wine will have anywhere from 1% to about 5% residual sugar, in my experience

I think kids that are around parents who consume alcohol with responsibility and respect are more likely to be responsible when it comes to drinking themselves as adults.
In my experience the worst kids come from homes where the alcohol was either abused ot treated like some big secret taboo.
