I have a recipe that calls for Chinese rice wine or Sherry. I’m not going to buy either for just a couple tablespoons, any good subs?

To me it seems silly how anyone would think it is not French as the region is in France, but my English friends all say it is English wine and it is called claret. But then again, the English say sherry is English, even though sherry is from Spain.

I have some dried cranberries that I was thinking of trying to somehow flavor a vinaigrette with. Is this possible? I have pears, mixed greens, feta cheese and walnuts and the sweetest dressing I have is French.
