Recipe calls for 2 tablespoons of dry sherry, but I don’t have dry sherry. Can white wine be used instead in the chicken~ala~king recipe?

well, I have neither sherry nor wine. I don’t want to buy any, because I don’t drink it usually and neither is my guest.

As far as I’m aware, they’re both fortified wines, but what differentiates a port from a sherry?

The recipe i have says 1/3 cup sherry wine and my instructor said the cut the recipe in half and i cant think of it
